Help - Compact Camera

Hey, I've got a problem. I have decided to add to my camera collection, well... this one is actually for my Wife ;-)
I would like one of these:

This is the stunning Canon S90. 10 Mp, 28mm wide angle lens.
But most importantly it has one of the lowest pixel densities, which means a very small and expensive camera - £340!

or this......
the rather nice, Panasonic Lumix ZX1. 25mm wide angle lens, 8x zoom and 12 Mp sensor! So, better spec and it's cheaper, much cheaper at £185.

So is this a simple choice? No way, ok it is for the Wife, but I will use it. The Canon has much more in the way of manual control, which I am addicted too.

Can you help? Which would you buy?

It may be too late; Jessops have the S90 on offer at under £300.

Watery solution

I know you have been dying to know what the image in the 'Guessing Game' post is, and where it was taken. So here goes, It is South Mill at Amesbury. The image is taken from the bridge directly above the Avon 'overflow' which runs alongside the Mill. The 'tree' is actually an overhanging branch, but looks like a tree in the reflection on the surface. Below is the side view which should help.

Novelty wearing off now

Hi, as you can see my once a week rule is broken! And the snow is no longer much fun, although it did present an opportunity for the Fox family to go out for a walk TOGETHER, probably about five years have elapsed since that last happened! During the walk we were accosted by a cheeky Robin looking for a free lunch.

The details of this image are: Canon 40D fitted with 70-200 f2.8 lens, ISO 200, f4.0, and 1/200sec.

And someone worked out what the white stuff is!

This one is the same details as above, except the aperture is f5.0.

The thaw has started, so hopefully that will be it for this winter.

Guessing Game?

So here we go with blog 3. Another 770i image, and this is my favorite place in Amesbury. I really like these semi-abstract images, and the 770i with it's auto settings, can be tripped into producing this style. This is of course, a bit hit and miss, but being digital costs nothing to keep on snapping till you get what you want! Can you guess what it is?

Sony and Maisie

I own many cameras; you've read about the Zeiss, but at the other end of the scale is my amazing Sony Ericsson 770i phone (the Zeiss pictured previously was taken with the 770!). It has a 3Mp camera, is not bulky and of course I carry it with me everywhere, including walks with our Border Collie, 'Maisie'.
Here she is on a lightly snow dusted track.

New year, New Decade, New Blog!

Here goes..., my first blog :-)

Guess I should give you an insight into the fun world of Neil Fox Photography! I really enjoy taking photos, or as I prefer to call them - Images, this word means more to me as it indicates something being 'created' rather than 'recorded'.

My interest in photography started by borrowing my Father's rather nice single lens reflex (SLR) 35mm camera. I can't remember if he gave me any instruction, but I do recall experimenting in my bedroom without flash :-]. He died several years ago, but I still have the camera - a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Alpha (Circa. 1958).

I will endevour to post at least once a week.... hmmm, we'll see!

Don't forget to visit my website neilfoxphotography to find what I do for money!
